Wheels of Color DetailsBack to Gallery
Wheels of Color combines the age-old concept of interlocking wheels with modern technology using the enormous color palette available to us today in six-stranded cotton. A true color line emerges with values shading from light to dark in 11 color families. The “road map”, or line drawing of the design, shows the numbering system used. Each horizontal row of whole wheels has a letter designation from A to I. Each wheel in the horizontal row also has a numerical designation. For example, the first row of whole wheels is designated A-1, A-3, A-5, A-7, A-9 and A-11. Because these wheels are interlocking, the second row is B-2, B-4, B-6, B-8 and B-10. In other words, there will be six different stitches in one row; alternating rows will contain five different stitches. Color families are vertical rows, with values from light to dark. Around the edge are partial wheels. There are color choices here, but all are worked with the same stitch.
