Tree of Hearts (Arbre de Coeurs) is based on an old quilt design. The elements have been separated. A whipped chain stitch sets off a center medallion of ribbon pattern hearts. Tree trunks stitched in an ombre-shaded web stitch connect with large hearts of colorful composite stitches. Pattern couching creates multiflora on the remaining hearts. A heart pattern sashing and border continue the theme which is completed by a subtle two-tone diagonal Bargello background.

Ground: 16” square #18 mono canvas with design. Design size 13” square on #18 canvas. OR 14” square congress cloth with design. Design size 9-1/2” square on congress cloth.

Technique: Canvas/needlepoint.
